What is Bowen?

The Bowen Technique is unique in the field of bodywork.  Sometimes referred to as the “homeopathy of bodywork”, the technique is one of the most holistic of all healing methods. Its relatively few,  gentle “moves” over muscle and other soft tissues address the whole body, stimulating it to reset and heal itself. The healing may occur at all levels as needed: physical, chemical, emotional, mental, energetic, etc.  The late Mr. Tom Bowen said that any or every condition could be addressed by this technique.

It is suitable for everybody from newborns to the elderly and no adverse side effects have been reported.
Bowtech, the original Bowen Technique, is an extremely gentle form of bodywork in which the subtle moves performed over the muscles and connective tissue send messages deep into the body, retrieving cellular memory of a preferred, relaxed, balanced way of wellbeing. Results can be remarkable, even from the first session; often only a few sessions are needed to correct the presenting problem.

By using the body’s innate healing mechanisms,  Bowen  treatment  results in the relief of many specific injuries and other health problems, both acute and chronic. The practitioner delivers signals to the fascia and nervous system at specific locations, and the body does the rest.

Some conditions that have responded well to Bowen include:

  • Sports and accident injuries
